49ers make offer to Smith, not interested in - 03-07-2012
To be honest, if you are an NFL team and you are not super confident in your quarterback - and if people second guess your loyalty on a regular basis (49ers and Jets), you would be stupid not to go for Peyton. Even if he declines and goes elsewhere, you have nothing to lose. Do people think that Alex Smith will cry himself to sleep? Mark Sanchez? Well, Sanchez might cry himself to sleep. But I think these QBs might understand.
Here is my theory.
The real reason why the 49ers are not looking into Peyton Manning:
Peyton Manning replaced Jim Harbaugh with the Colts.
Bam.
I think San Francisco would the number one place to go and win a Super Bowl RIGHT AWAY. VERY weak division and a unbelievable Defense. GREAT coach and one of the best tight ends in the league (Can you imagine the Manning-Vernon Davis combo?). If Alex Smith took them to the verge of the Super Bowl imagine what they would do with Peyton. It is very scary and it could happen. Peyton does not want to play for Rex Ryan. I doubt he would ever play for a coach like that.
ReplyDeleteOh my God, I cannot imagine that combination. The 49ers would destroy. But this is one situation I do not see happening.
ReplyDeleteAnd Rex Ryan. I just think the whole team is messed up and that may cause Peyton to pause. But Ryan loves Peyton and would give him complete control. That would be a positive for him, I am sure.
